One of the things I've grown fond of having lived in Philly for over a year is The Cheese Steak.
Or is it the cheesesteak?
Here is my personal assessment of the differences between each as well as the official
Super Genius Best Cheesesteak Pick.

The
Pat's Cheese Steak
- beef is cut up into small pieces and onions are mixed in
- cheese whiz is kraft brand
- crust is light brown, thick strong crust
- generally bland unseasoned flavor (add salt and pepper to suit your taste)
- heavier sandwich (has more meat)
- onions were sweet tasting
- hot peppers condiments are hot, juicy & not too perky
- dried red peppers in oil available (yum!)
- Coke products served
- Eating area is a bit dilapidated although there is charm in its authentic look.

The
Geno's Cheese Steak
- beef is longer uncut pieces, onions were underneath meat
- cheese whiz was generic brand
- crust was darker and very soft
- cheesier taste, tastier beef, seasoning not really needed
- average sandwich weight
- spicier onions, less sweet
- hot peppers were hotter, juicier and looked fresher
- spicey sauce available (no red peppers)
- Pepsi products served
- Eating area was kept up well and very clean. Comparable number of tables for seating to Pat's.

My Pick: Pat's CheeseSteaks
Despite the fact that Pat's cheesesteak is unseasoned, that's actually a good thing. You can
season it to taste. The spices and condiments that they give you for free make theirs by
far the more tastier of the two. I happen to love the dried red peppers they have so that
clinches the deal. I order mine by saying ''Whiz With'' which
in normal human English means ''I'd like cheese whiz slathered steak sandwich with grilled
onions, please.''

I totally recommend checking out both of these fine establishments if you are visiting
the Philadelphia area. There's a scene in the original ''Rocky'' where Sylvester Stallone is
ordering up a cheesesteak from Pat's. Now it's your turn. Coming soon to this page: A better
picture of Pat's. That's the back of the restaurant that you see above. Oops. Hey, they still
rock, okay? Go there. Go there now!

Yum!
