In 1995 while working as chief photography for Houston Baptist University, I was lucky enough to meet Oliver North, the epitome of political icons during the 1980s. He was speaking to a $500 a table crowd at HBU which as a direct result allowed them fund new buildings on the campus. An interesting thing to note is that although most of the photos I took made Oliver to appear as a tall, towering man, he was only 5' 9" at the most. My trick? Stooping. Try it. The same thing is done for other celebrities (who shall rename nameless). When I had a friend snap the photo you see below, I believe I said something like, "It's an honor to meet you and I respect what you've done in your life" or some variation thereof. I had to follow him around during the earlier part of the evening, so we'd already been introduced and had set up photos with him and other local Houston celebrities and personalities. I also had him sign the program for that evening, making it out 'to Betsy', my girlfriend at the time. He response was, "Hey, I've got a Betsy at home, too!" So, that was weird but cool.

FYI, the caption on the photo below has been there since 1995 when I had someone else scan it in (scanners were a bit pricier back then).
